'Fastnet - Co. Cork' - Fused Glass Wall Panel
A stunning take on one of the iconic landmarks of Ireland, 'Fastnet' combines a vibrant and complex striated powder background with a separately fused tableau of the lighthouse, rocks and Galway Hooker. The overall 2D effect created by the final fuse lends the piece a magical and ethereal feeling, perfectly in tune with its subject matter.
Fastnet is situated at the southernmost point of Ireland in County Cork and can be thought of the first or last sight of Europe by vessels crossing the Atlantic. The first Fastnet Lighthouse was completed in 1854 but soon needed reinforcing due to the strength of the seas surrounding it. The decision was subsequently made to rebuild in 1895 and again in 1904. It became fully automatic as late as 1989.
This bold fused glass wall panel would be a talking point in any home. Handmade by Connemara Blue.
